Reyadurg Fort

This is yet another masterpiece of the Vijanagar Empire. The fort ideally located at an altitude of 2727 ft above sea level has many interior forts. The layout and design of these magnificent structures have been so skillfully planned to keep the enemies at bay. There is also a wonderful temple known as ‘Dasabhuja Ganapathi Temple’ dedicated to Lord Ganapathi. Here, the principal deity in all Hindu endeavours, Lord Ganapathi manifests with 10 shoulders which is discernable from the name ‘Dasabhuja’ which menas ‘10 Shoulders.
The Holy image about 4 m in height has been sculpted out of single stone. This fort about 90 km from Ananthapur very much in Andhra is in fact closer to Bellary of the adjacent State Karnataka which is only 25 km away.
